Sunday School
Children's Faith Formation
At All Saints' we celebrate our children and understand their variety of abilities, interests and talents. That’s why we use a multi-dimensional teaching approach. and All of our classes are designed to give children hands-on participation to enhance their potential to understand and retain the stories of the Bible. From September through June, we hold Sunday school for children ages three through junior high. Our program is designed to offer children time in class with their peers as well as worship time with their family.
The schedule rotates monthly as follows:
First and second Sundays of the month: Children begin in classes at 10 am and then join the worship service for Holy Communion.
Third Sunday of the month: There is no Sunday school, and we have an abbreviated service as our main liturgy with a format specifically designed to meet the needs of the children in worship. We use one less scripture reading and the sermon is intergenerational and interactive.
Fourth Sunday of the month: The children remain in their Sunday school class for nearly the entire length of the service to allow for extended projects and lessons. The children come to church for the last ten minutes of the service, so they may receive Communion.
Fifth Sunday of the month: In months where there is a fifth Sunday, a trained member of the congregation offers the sermon so that our Vicar, the Reverend Kathryn King, can lead the program with the children. The Vicar and children join the service at the Peace for the remainder of the service including Communion.
